  • High Peaks Scenic Byway (30 miles)

State Route 73 – From I-87 (Northway) exit 30 take US 9 west to State Route 73. Follow 73 through St Huberts, Keene Valley, Keene, and North Elba to Lake Placid. A steep climb west of Keene takes you to two beautiful high mountain lakes – Upper and Lower Cascade Lakes with spectacular scenery and thousands of white birch trees.

Historic Trail that retraces Theodore Roosevelt’s ride to North creek where he learned he was to become the 26th president of the United States.
